01 Introduction & Scope
IndiCAT ("we", "us", or "our"), available at https://indicat.co.in and through the Microsoft Windows Store, provides an AI-assisted Computer Assisted Translation (CAT), dubbing, and transcription desktop application. This Privacy Policy describes how information is handled when you use our desktop software, web portal, and associated online services.
02 Local-First Data Processing (Desktop App)
Unlike traditional web translation platforms, the IndiCAT desktop application operates primarily on your local workstation:
- Project Files & Translations: All CAT segments, translated texts, exported PDFs, Word documents (.docx), and SubRip (.srt) subtitles are generated and saved exclusively on your local hard drive.
- Audio & Dubbing Media: Video files, voice takes, and mixed tracks edited in the Dubbing Studio are processed locally using your device's audio hardware and bundled FFmpeg utilities.
- Offline AI Models: When utilizing offline translation models (such as IndicTrans2, Qwen, or NLLB), inference is executed 100% on your local CPU/GPU with zero internet transmission.
03 Information We Collect
We only collect minimal technical data necessary to provide licensing and optional cloud features:
- License & Device Registration: To authorize application licenses and prevent unauthorized duplication, we process a non-reversible cryptographic hash of your device identifier, product version, and assigned license key.
- Agency & User Accounts: If you sign in via Google OAuth or create an agency manager account, we store your email address, agency display name, and remaining translation word quota.
- Payment & Billing Data: Payment processing is handled by licensed third-party payment gateways (e.g. Razorpay). We receive confirmation of completed transactions (transaction ID, purchase date, plan tier). We never store payment card numbers, CVVs, or sensitive banking credentials on our servers.
04 Optional Cloud AI Services
Users who explicitly select Cloud AI features (such as Google Gemini translation or Text-To-Speech proxies) understand that:
- Text segments sent for cloud translation are transmitted encrypted over secure HTTPS/TLS solely for returning immediate translation output.
- Data processed via enterprise AI endpoints is never retained to train public commercial AI models.
- Users can work completely offline at any time by toggling to local offline neural machine translation models.
05 Data Security & Retention
We maintain strict administrative and technical safeguards to protect server-side licensing records. In the event of account termination or upon explicit request, user account records and associated licensing tokens are permanently deleted from our database within 30 days.
06 Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on your jurisdiction, you have rights regarding your personal information, including:
- The right to know what personal data (such as account email and device bindings) is retained.
- The right to request immediate correction or deletion of your account and device linkage.
- The right to revoke any cloud permissions or discontinue optional online sync at any time.
